Man Charged for Trespassing and Resisting Arrest

On Saturday, January 2, 2016 at approximately 7:30am, police were called to a business on Third Street in Chatham in regards to a man refusing to leave. Once police arrived, they located the man in the restroom. The man refused to leave the business despite being asked repeatedly by employees and police. The man was arrested for trespassing and during the arrest he tried to push past officers and run for the exit. The man then became non-compliant with police. He was eventually handcuffed and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was released on a promise to appear.

The 33-year-old Walpole Island man was given a court date of January 22, 2016.

Man Charged for Domestic Assault

On Saturday, January 2, 2016 at approximately 7:30pm, police were called to the area of Maple Street in Ridgetown in regards to an assault. Police attended in the area and located a man walking down the road. He told police that he was in an argument with his wife and he grabbed her throat. Police spoke to the man’s wife who verified his story. The woman did not suffer any injuries as a result of the assault. The 57-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested for assault and held for a bail hearing.

Break and Enter in Tilbury

On Saturday, January 2, 2016 at approximately 9:00pm, police were called out to a Coutts Line address for a break and enter. Sometime between December 26, 2015 and January 2, 2016, unknown person(s) gained entry to a farm implement shed by pulling a large sliding door open. It is unknown whether anything was taken at this point. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Dan Carr at [email protected]. Women Charged with Fraud

In August, 2015 police were contacted to investigate a possible fraud that occurred over several months in Chatham. A man noticed that his bank account balance was slowly dwindling away and contacted police with a possible suspect. Police conducted a thorough investigation and found that over $63,000.00 was stolen from the man’s bank account. On Saturday, January 2, 2016 police arrested a 33-year-old woman for the following offences:

Fraud Under $5000 x5

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 x5

Uttering Forged Document x12

Fraud Over $5000 x7

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x7

The Taylor Ave women was released on a promise to appear with a future court date of January 29, 2016.
