(EAST FERRIS TOWNSHIP, ON) – On December 30, 2015, members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) campaign on Village Road in East Ferris Township.
Ten minutes after the officers began the RIDE program, a vehicle drove up, and it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Angela GEIGER, 47 years of age, of East Ferris Township, has been charged with Driving With More Than 80mgs of Alcohol in her blood contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 12, 2016. She was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
Impaired driving continues to be a problem in our area. The North Bay OPP has arrested and charged 5 drivers for drinking and driving offences so far in the month of December. Officers will continue conducting RIDE checks at all hours of the day.
