Almaguin Highlands Report

(PERRY TWP, ON) – On Monday November 7, 2016 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and their Criminal Investigation Unit, the Huntsville OPP Criminal Investigation Unit and the North East Region Investigations and Crime Prevention Bureau arrested a male and female for trafficking in Fentanyl Patches and Prescription Opiates.

The accused were stopped on Highway 11 while driving through Perry Township and officers subsequently arrested a male driver, Adam COX, 29 of Ryerson Township and a female passenger, Elizabeth PENZES, 36 of Ryerson Township.

Both accused were charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance and two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). The male accused was also charged with driving while ability impaired by drug, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The male accused was help in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday November 10, 2016 in Sundridge Ontario.

The female accused was held for a bail hearing and released from custody to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday November 24, 2016 in Sundridge, Ontario.

SOUTH RIVER MALE ARRESTED FOR IMPARIED DRIVING

(STRONG TWP, ON) – On Monday November 7, 2016 at approximately 7:00 p.m. the North East Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) was conducting R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Highway 124 at Mountainview Road.

Officers observed an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) approach the program and subsequently arrested the driver, James Dalziel, 30 of South River for care or control over 80 milligrams of alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday November 24, 2016 in Sundridge Ontario.

OPP INVESTIGATE THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Saturday November 5, 2016 at approximately 5:30 a.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the theft of a Ford pickup truck.

The vehicle was parked on Doe Lake Road and sometime between 10:00 p.m. on Friday November 4, 2016 and 4:00 a.m on Saturday November 5, 2016 unknown person(s) attended the property and stole the vehicle, a 2004 grey Ford F350.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
