(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Last night, August 6, 2015 just before 11:30 pm, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE check on Kawartha Lakes Road 8 near Bobcaygeon when a vehicle approaching stopped prior to the checkpoint and the driver fled into the bush.
In attendance at the RIDE spot check was a canine officer. A track was initiated and a very short time later the driver was arrested. Charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood both contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada was Allan BOWLAND, 29 years of age, of the City of Kawartha Lakes.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 10, 2015.
