(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has arrested and charged a 46 year old male after police were called to a Villa Nova Road, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at approximately 11:01 p.m., police were contacted by a concerned citizen after they observed an unknown male remove a riding lawnmower from a property located on Deer Park Road. The alert citizen followed the vehicle and contacted police.
As a result of the citizen’s quick thinking actions, police located the vehicle and subsequently arrested and charged the driver.
While conducting the investigation, officers noticed approximately 80 Marihuana plants in a nearby cornfield with a value of approximately $80,000 dollars. The plants were subsequently removed by police and will be properly disposed of.
Charged with the following offences is 46 year old Kevin Douglas MURCHIE, of Norfolk County, Ontario.
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
Driving over the legal limit
Driving while under suspension
Driving while under suspension
He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.
