(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On October 25, 2016 around 4:11 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began receiving multiple complaints from concerned motorists regarding a possible impaired driver operating a Toyota vehicle northbound on Hwy. 10 through Markdale in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. Reports of erratic driving including excessive speed, passing unsafely and running vehicles off the road were received.
At approximately 4:20 p.m., police stopped the suspect vehicle, a 2003 Toyota Camry, on Hwy. 10 in Chatsworth and found that the lone driver had been drinking alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for breath tests, which he refused to perform.
Alan Michael ERLENDSON, age 55, of Collingwood, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, fail/refuse to provide breath sample, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available under the Liquor Licence Act.
He is scheduled to appear in court on November 10, 2016 in Owen Sound.
