(TOWNSHIP OF ESSA, ON) – On Friday the 23rd of January 2015, the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was made aware of a door-to-door salesperson in Angus, Essa Township who was selling a water filtration system and may have been conducting aggressive sales tactics.
It has not been determined if the sales person is posing as an employee of Essa Township, however it should be known that Essa Township has not arranged nor authorized anyone to carry out water filter installations. All Township of Essa employees will carry identification cards and/or contact the Township to confirm their identity if you feel the need at 705-424-9770.
If someone comes to your door, ask to see some identification. You do not have to let them in, and they must leave if you ask them to. If they persist, and refuse to leave they are in contravention to the Trespass to Property Act and you should contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or for emergent situations dial 911.
