(North Glengarry) On August 18, 2015 at approximately 11:00am Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers investigated a residential fire on Breadalbane Road in North Glengarry Township.
Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP were dispatched to a domestic related threatening complaint. Upon arrival, the home was on fire and was extinguished by the attending officers.
The Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit, the OPP Emergency Response Team, the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit, the Alexandria Fire Department and The Ontario Fire Marshal attended and assisted with the investigation.
The SD&G OPP Crime Unit have concluded their investigation and have laid charges.
A 68 year-old male from North Glengarry, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Arson – Damage to Property
– Assault with a weapon
– Uttering Threats (2 counts)
He was held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. He has since been released.
The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
