3 Vehicle Collision Claims One Life

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – On Thursday October 10, 2013 at approximately 6:50am Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 approximately 1 km north of County Rd. 22 in Centre Wellington Twp formerly Nichol Twp.

Officers attended the scene along with the Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS) and determined that 3 motor vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.

One of the drivers involved in the collision, James Pronk aged 48 of Centre Wellington Twp was transported to Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus where he succumbed to his injuries. A second driver, Nelida Kuhn aged 74 of Nichol Twp was transported to Guelph General Hospital and later transferred to Hamilton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The third driver, Jason Brunskill aged 19 of Fergus was uninjured.

Wellington County OPP officers assisted by Wellington OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Highway Safety Division Reconstructionists are investigating the collision.

Highway 6 remains closed between County Rd. 22 and the 6th Line of Nichol Twp.
