(Napanee, ON)- On Friday, March 25, 2016 at 11:06 a.m. a member of the Ontario Provincial Police, Highway Safety Division (HSD), stopped a black Dodge Charger travelling at 168 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone on Highway 401 eastbound near Kingston.
The driver, a 24 year-old male from Toronto, had his licence seized and the rental vehicle was impounded for seven days. He was issued a summons for stunt driving and is scheduled to attend Provincial Court. Two female passengers in the vehicle were also charged with failing to wear their seatbelts.
On Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:45 p.m. a member of the OPP HSD, conducting speed enforcement on Hwy 401 in the City of Quinte West, clocked a BMW going 196 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The driver, a 23 year old male from Toronto with a G2 licence had his licence seized and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was issued a summons for stunt driving and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
On Monday, March 28, 2016 at 5:31 p.m. an OPP HSD member had a vehicle stopped for speeding at the Trenton exit of Hwy 401 in the City of Quinte West. While the officer was dealing with the speeding infraction the driver of a tractor trailer stopped in the driving lane on Highway 401 and asked for directions. Numerous cars had to brake and swerve to avoid colliding with the transport. The transport driver, a 32 year old male from Brampton, was charged with careless driving.
