(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On January 16, 2017 at 7:24 pm, West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 124 in McKellar Township and commenced an investigation.
As a result, Thomas HENNIG, 22 years of age of McKellar Township, Ontario was charged with Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Cause Death, contrary to section 249(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The West Parry Sound OPP Crime Unit, supported by the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI), OPP Northeast Regional Support Team, under the direction of Detective Inspector Rob Matthews of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are continuing their investigation.
Police are asking anyone travelling on Highway 124 between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on the evening on January 16, 2017 and who may have information regarding this incident to contact the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or 705-746-4225.
