200,000 Cigarettes Seized

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged two men with offences under the Tobacco Tax Act following an investigation into a suspicious vehicle complaint that occurred at a Highway 6, Caledonia, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Thursday October 27, 2016 at approximately 12:06 p.m., OPP responded to Highway 6 for a suspicious vehicle. OPP located the vehicle and conducted an investigation.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of over 200,000 cigarettes.

OPP has charged 50-year-old Binh LA and 55-year-old Quang TRAN, both of Mississauga, Ontario with:

Possession of Unmarked Cigarettes, under the Tobacco Tax Act

Possession of Unmarked Cigarettes For Sale, under the Tobacco Tax Act

Trafficking Contraband Tobacco, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

They are to appear in Provincial Court, Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
