(HAMILTON TWP, ON) –On September 11, 2015 at 9:33pm a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer attempted to stop a grey GMC Sierra pickup truck which was travelling south on Harwood Rd at a high rate of speed. The driver accelerated when the officer activated the emergency lights. The vehicle was observed to strike the gravel shoulder several times forcing other vehicles off the roadway in order to avoid a collision. The truck turned west on Racetrack Rd and eventually stopped in a driveway where the driver was arrested for Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle.
He was given a roadside test which resulted within the ‘warn’ range (50-80mg) then transported to the Cobourg detachment for processing.
Tylar HELD age 19 of Baltimore, Ontario is charged with Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle, Flight from police and issued a 3 day licence suspension. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on October 21, 2015.
