$1,700 Drug Bust In Meaford

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On July 26, 2016, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of Grey County OPP, West Region Emergency Response Team and West Region Canine Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a property on Concession A in the Municipality of Meaford in Grey County.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized cannabis marihuana, methamphetamine and psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking. The estimated, combined value of the seized controlled substances was $1,720.00.

Police also seized offence related property consisting of cell phones, digital scales, packaging materials, a debt list, and cash.

During the execution of the search warrant, police identified stolen property consisting of a 35 foot 5th wheel camping trailer, (stolen from Barrie in December 2015), as well as a Honda motorcycle and a space heater. The combined estimated value of the recovered stolen property is $72,520.00

30-year old Jeremy Steven HALK, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Possession of methamphetamine for purposes of trafficking

Possession of psilocybin for the purposes of trafficking

Possession of cannabis marihuana for the purposes of trafficking

Production of cannabis marihuana

Possession of cannabis resin

Possession of ammunition while prohibited

Possession of stolen property under $5,000.00

Possession of stolen property over $5,000.00

The accused, who was also wanted by West Grey Police Service and OPP Highway Safety Division, was held for a bail hearing on July 27, 2016 in Owen Sound.

He remains in custody. A video bail is scheduled for August 9, 2016.
