(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On July 1, 2015 at approximately 7:51 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Mapleton Fire Rescue and Guelph Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of a 13 year old boy in medical distress while playing soccer at a pitch located on Wellington Street in the Village of Drayton, Mapleton Township.
C.P.R. was initiated at the scene by witnesses. The youth was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Wellington County OPP continues to investigate with the assistance of the Coroner’s Office.
