(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment has charged a 22-year-old male after investigating an incident at a Delhi, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.
On Monday, October 31, 2016 at approximately 8:58 a.m., police received a report of an 11-year-old missing female.
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that she was last seen at her residence at approximately 2:30 a.m., on Monday, October 31, 2016. Officers conducting the investigation determined that the female travelled to Brantford, Ontario with a male.
With the assistance of the Brantford Police Service, investigators were able to locate the male and female at an address in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. The male was subsequently taken into custody without incident by members of the Thunder Bay OPP Detachment.
As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 22-year-old Brandon Michael LABONTE of Norfolk County, Ontario with abduction of a person under 14 years of age and fail to comply with probation order.
He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.
The 11-year-old female was not injured as a result of this incident and was apprehended under the Child and Family Services Act.
