UPDATE: Four Officers Injured – Two Arrested – Attempt Murder Charge Laid

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has updated charges stemming from an incident that came to a conclusion in Southwold, Ontario on September 23, 2016.

26-year-old Gary GREEN, from Haldimand County, Ontario, is now facing a charge of:

Attempt to Commit Murder contrary to section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

The accused is also facing amended charges of:

Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer contrary to section 270.02 of the Criminal Code. (2 Counts)

The accused is still being held in custody at this time.

(SOUTHWOLD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Police officers from the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Middlesex County OPP, the OPP West Region Highway Safety Division (HSD), and the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police, apprehended two males for crimes which were committed in Elgin County on September 23, 2016.

The accused persons were arrested on September 23, 2016, shortly before 7:00 p.m., and have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

26-year-old Gary GREEN, from Haldimand County, Ontario, is facing a total of 40 charges, including:

Robbery With Intent X2

Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 X2

Theft Over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle

Assault with a Weapon X6

Assault Cause Bodily Harm X3

Assault With Intent to Resist Arrest

Unauthorized Possession of Weapon X2

Break, Enter a Dwelling House With Intent to Commit Indictable Offence

Fail to Comply With Recognizance X11

Driving While Disqualified – Court Order X5

Mischief Under $5000

Possession of Break In Instruments

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 Grams

A 15-year-old male, from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation, Ontario, (who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)), is facing a total of 14 charges, including:

Robbery With Intent X2

Disguise With Intent

Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

Possession Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000 X2

Theft Over of a Motor Vehicle

Break, Enter a Place – With Intent to Commit Indictable Offence

Unauthorized Possession of Weapon X2

Possession Break In Instruments

Assault With a Weapon

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 Grams

The accused persons have been held in custody, and are scheduled to answer to their respective charges in the St Thomas, Ontario, courts.
