No Muffler Leads To Impaired Charge

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A resident of Mitchell is facing an Impaired Operation and a No Muffler charge following a traffic stop in Exeter last week.

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at approximately 2:17 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was parked at the intersection of Airport Road and Dashwood Road when he observed a jeep travelling on Dashwood Road into Exeter without a muffler.

The officer followed the jeep into Exeter and a traffic stop was conducted on Thames Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the investigating officer noted the driver had also consumed some alcohol so a roadside test was conducted. The driver complied with the test and registered a fail.

The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Lucan OPP Detachment for breath tests with the Intoxilizer Technician. Further testing was conducted and the driver registered two breath samples above the legal limit.

Devon SCHINBEIN, 25 years of age from Mitchell has been charged with Operation While Impaired (80 Plus) and No Muffler – Motor Vehicle. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 19, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
