Middlesex OPP Update

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release to highlight the great work our officers are doing to keep our roadways as safe as possible.

On January 18, 2023, at 5:19 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol observed a distracted driver on Highway 401 at Westchester Bourne in Thames Centre. As a result, a 57-year-old of London was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Drive – Hand-Held Communication device.

On January 21, 2023, at 1:49 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling in excess of the posted 100km/h speed limit on Highway 401 Westbound in Thames Centre. A 33-year-old of London was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding, Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero and was issued a 3-day driver’s license suspension for registering an Alert on the roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD).

On January 21, 2023, at 9:56 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol observed a suspicious vehicle on Turnberry Drive in Dorchester, Thames Centre. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result, a 17-year-old of Dorchester was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle.

On January 21, 2023, at 7:17 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol observed a suspicious vehicle on Dorchester Road in Thames Centre. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result, an 18-year-old of Dorchester was charged under the Liquor Licence Control Act with Person under 19 years having liquor and Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor.

On January 21, 2023, at 8:35 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling at 48km/h over the posted 100km/h speed limit on Highway 401 in Thames Centre. As a result, a 38-year-old of Schaumburg, Illinois, United States of America, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding.

On January 21, 2023, at 9:46 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol observed a suspicious vehicle travelling on Gideon Drive in Middlesex Centre. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result, a 29-year-old of Aylmer was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Driving while under suspension and Drive on closed highway. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date to speak to the charges.

On January 22, 2023, at 2:23 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling at 49km/h over the posted 100km/h speed limit on Highway 401 in Thames Centre. As a result, a 19-year-old of Brampton was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding, Driver fail to surrender licence, Fail to signal – lane change and Fail to surrender insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

On January 22, 2023, at 1:06 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, was dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Highway 401 at Westchester Bourne in Thames Centre. As a result, a 30-year-old of London was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Offer tow truck services on King’s Highway within 200 m of vehicle involved in accident and Solicit business.
