25 Year Old From ACW Arrested For Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – A resident of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been arrested and charged following a traffic stop investigation at the end of August.

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at approximately 10:22 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was doing speed enforcement patrols on Huron Road near Seaforth when a compact car was stopped for speeding at a speed in excess of 60 km/h over the posted 80 km/h zone.

While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol thus a roadside screening test was administered. The result of the roadside test was a fail thus the driver was placed under arrest for Operation While Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was subsequently transported to the Huron Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

As a result, Douglas BRINDLEY, 25 years of age, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with: Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus and Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 17, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
