(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) -A vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in the driver being charged with Highway Traffic Act (HTA) related offences.
On December 5, 2013 an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 35 near Mount Horeb Road. The vehicle was being operated at 134 km/h while the driver was using a cell phone.
As a result of the officers investigation Shannon MCPHAIL, 26 years of age, of Janetville, was charged with stunt driving and driving with a hand held communication device, both contrary to the HTA. The accused’s vehicle was towed from the scene and her driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on February 11, 2014.
