(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to set up RIDE programs throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes, with an increased presence this holiday season.
On December 8, 2013 a vehicle entered a RIDE program located on Kawartha Lakes Road 8 in the former Verulam Township. An officer approached the vehicle and was able to determine that the passenger was in possession of an open container of alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Joshua WOODCOCK, 28 years of age, of Newmarket, was charged with having open alcohol in the vehicle, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
On December 9, 2013 officers established a RIDE program on Glenarm Road near Elm Tree Road. An officer approached a vehicle as it entered the check area and, through investigation, determined that marihuana was present in the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation Danny WARDLAW, 36 years of age, of Lindsay, was charged with possession of marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). Two grams of marihuana was seized.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on January 23, 2014.
