(QUINTE WEST, ON) -The Operation Crossroads initiative in Quinte West ran between December 2nd and December 7th 2013.
Operation Crossroads focused on education and enforcement at intersections. To date in 2013, the Quinte West OPP has investigated 623 collision or 60 collisions per month. The vast majority of these collisions occur on the city’s main streets during daylight hours on weekdays and 66% of the collisions are directly related to intersections.
With officers conducting enforcement in these problem areas 73 people were charged with lane light violations, distracted driving or aggressive driving related offences.
The Quinte West OPP will continue to monitor these areas in order to make area roadways safe for everyone.
