(HALIBURTON, ON) – Members of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) , OPP Central Region S.A.V.E. team, and OFSC -S.T.O.P. officers have been busy conducting checks on Haliburton County snowmobile trails. Over the past weekend January 31 – February 02, well over 200 snowmobiles were checked at numerous trail locations. We definitely have some of the most scenic trails in the province but our goal is to make sure they are the safest as well says Staff Sergeant Chad Bark, Detachment Commander for the OPP in Minden. Snowmobilers can expect to see increased trail patrols and checkpoints both day and night this winter. The OPP would like to remind everyone to ‘sled safe and smart’ on the trails, and please don’t drink and drive.
