STUNT DRIVER ON HIGHWAY 401 CHARGED

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – A driver has been charged, his licence has been suspended and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days under the stunt drive legislation following an investigation of a speeding driver on Highway 401.

On February 15, 2014 at approximately 5:41 p.m. a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Highway Safety Division was patrolling eastbound on Highway 401 approaching Dorchester Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre when a vehicle came upon the officer at a high rate of speed. The officer measured the suspect vehicle travelling in excess of 50km/h over the posted 100 km/h speed limit.

The vehicle was stopped and as a result of the investigation, the male driver Yu Ming Johnny HUANG, age 19 of London, Ontario was charged with the following Provincial offences:

Race a Motor Vehicle
Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

The accused is scheduled to appear in a London Provincial courtroom March 18, 2014 to speak to the charges.
