(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On March 6, 2014 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a robbery at the pharmacy in Woodville.
Initial investigation indicated that a lone male entered the pharmacy with a weapon, obtained a quantity of prescription drugs and then left with a second male on a snowmobile. The OPP’s crime unit conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of two males.
Kenneth EMSLEY, 26 years of age, of Beaverton was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Robbery with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code (CC)
Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5 000, contrary to the CC
Two counts of Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to the CC
Possession of a Schedule II substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
Possession of a Schedule I substance, contrary to the CDSA
Johnathan NICHOLSON, 31 years of age, of the former Bexley Township, was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime, both contrary to the Criminal Code.
The initial investigation resulted in police executing a CDSA search warrant in the Durham area in which a small quantity of drugs was obtained. The investigation also led to the execution of a Criminal Code search warrant being executed in York region. This resulted in the recovery of a stolen snowmobile.
