(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 96 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.
There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarm, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, theft complaints and Liquor Licence Act complaints.
On March 15, 2014 at approximately 11:28 p.m., Orillia OPP officers were responding to a residence alarm when they stopped a vehicle leaving the area of Uhthoff Line and Murphy Road in the City of Orillia. The male driver of the vehicle failed a road side screening device test and was arrested. The male was not related to the alarm call which later was deemed to be a false alarm.
Mitchel DAVIES, 20 years old of Ramara Township, was charged with Driving with over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on April 8, 2014. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days.
On March 16, 2014 at approximately 12:02 a.m., Orillia OPP officers were responding to a disturbance in the parking lot of the LCBO on Mississaga Street East. Officers were patrolling the area looking for the parties involved when an officer was notified that one of the parties was driving a vehicle turning onto Front Street North. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested after failing a road side screening device.
Alexander FRIEST, 27 years old of Orillia, was charged with Driving with over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on April 8, 2014. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days.
