(ORO-MEDONTE, ON) – On Sunday March 23, 2014, at approximately 3:23PM, officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motorized snow vehicle collision on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) Trail B in the area of Bass Lake Sideroad and Line 9 North, Oro-Medonte Township.
Upon arrival, Police learned that 2 snowmobiles had actually collided as they approached one another on the trail.
A 21-year old driver of the eastbound snowmobile sustained a broken leg, while a 7-year old female passenger on the westbound snowmobile suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both of these persons were taken to hospital and treated for their injuries.
The collision remains under investigation and the OPP wish to remind all snowmobile enthusiasts to always exercise caution on area snowmobile trails and remember to reduce your speed as you approach oncoming sleds.
