INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CHARGES

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – An investigation into a fail to remain accident has resulted in a local male being charged with numerous driving related offences.

On March 15, 2014 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted in regards to a motor vehicle collision in which the suspect failed to remain on scene. Upon arrival at a residence on Monck Road, the officer was able to determine that a vehicle which was parked in the driveway had been struck by an unknown vehicle. The officer was able to obtain information relating to a possible suspect vehicle from a witness to the incident.

Further investigation resulted in the officer identifying the vehicle involved in the incident. As a result of the investigation Jerry PIELS, 28 years of age, of Lindsay was charged with the following offences:

Driving while disqualified, contrary to the Criminal Code
Fail to remain, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Driving while under suspension, contrary to the HTA
Careless driving, contrary to the HTA
Fail to report accident, contrary to the HTA

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on April 17, 2014.
