(TRENT HILLS, ON) – On April 15, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a fraud involving the sale of puppies on Kijiji. The Trent Hills resident viewed a puppy for sale on the popular Buy & Sell website and made inquiries to a female via a cell phone number provided in the advertisement.
Arrangements were made to have the puppy shipped from Quebec to the Toronto area using air freight and monies were paid via an email transfer.
The buyer traveled to Pearson International Airport in Toronto to pick up the puppy only to find that there was no such shipment. All subsequent efforts to contact the seller proved futile.
