(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On August 21, 2014 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received numerous complaints in relation to attempted thefts occurring in the Woodville area.
The OPP was initially contacted when a male refused to pay a taxi fare. While responding to the initial call, investigation revealed that the suspect took alcohol from the local LCBO store and then removed some items from a second local store.
Police officers located the suspect and arrested Landon HEATON, 20 years of age, of no fixed address. Further investigation revealed that HEATON was currently on probation and had been released on a recognizance of bail.
As a result of the investigation Landon HEATON was charged with the following offences:
Three counts of theft, under $5 000, contrary to the Criminal Code
Transportation Fraud, contrary to the Criminal Code
Fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to the Criminal Code
Fail to comply with Probation, contrary to the Criminal Code
The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear in court, in Lindsay, today.
