(CALEDON, ON) – On September 1, 2014 shortly after 2 am, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) set up a R.I.D.E. (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Airport Road, south of Highway 9. The officers observed as the driver of a green Mazda approached the check point and stopped partly on the roadway and partly on the shoulder. The driver was directed to enter the road check and upon speaking with the male driver, the officers immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath.
The driver was given the roadside screening breath demand. The driver provided a sample of his breath which registered a fail. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for further testing.
In conclusion, Michael Charles HANES, 65, from Orangeville was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Care and Control Over 80 mgs.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on September 11th, 2014 to answer to the charges.
