LABOUR DAY LONG WEEKEND UPDATE FOR ORILLIA DETACHMENT

(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the past long weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 260 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarm, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, theft, traffic complaints, Liquor Licence Act complaints and a fire.

On August 30, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m., members of the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Mobilization Unit discovered a fire at a Mississaga Street East address while on foot patrol. Officers evacuated a neighbouring resident before entering the apartment and extinguishing the fire. The fire was investigated and deemed not to be suspicious.
