(KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Kenora male in connection to a stolen All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in Minaki Ontario.
On Thursday September 25, 2014 at approximately 6:00pm, the Kenora OPP received a complaint regarding an ATV being stolen from a residence in Minaki. While travelling on Highway 596, police observed a pick-up truck parked on the shoulder of the road with several persons loading an ATV into the box of the vehicle. As police approached, one of the suspects fled into the bush area to avoid police. It was determined that the ATV was the vehicle stolen previously.
With the assistance of the Kenora Canine Unit, a track was commenced and the suspect was apprehended. The other subjects were released unconditionally.
As a result of this investigation, Nicolas WIERSEMA age 26 of Kenora has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 and Obstruct a Peace Officer.
He is to appear in Kenora Court on November 6, 2014 to answer to the charges.
