(New Tecumseth, ON) On Thursday the 16th of October 2014, at 9:45 a.m. members from the Nottawasaga OPP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of the 10th Sideroad and the 2nd Line in the Township of New Tecumseth.
After further investigation it was found that a grey Saturn with a lone female driver was travelling southbound on the 10th Sideroad when it was struck by a blue Dodge Charger driven by a lone male driver, travelling eastbound on the 2nd Line. The intersection is controlled by a stop sign erected on the 2nd Line.
The 40 year-old female driver of the grey Saturn, Sherri BELLIVEAU of Beeton died as a result of the collision.
The 21 year-old male driver from the Dodge Charger is from Caledon and was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator (TTCI) were called to the scene for further investigation and reconstruction of the collision. The investigation is continuing, and charges are pending.
