(AMHERSTVIEW, ON)- This morning at 12:50 a.m. an employee at the AES Kingston Cogen Plant located on Bath Road in Loyalist Township responded to an alarm coming from a pump house. After noticing evidence of an attempted theft of copper wire the employee contacted police.
Officers with the Loyalist and Napanee detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene as well as an OPP Canine Unit and members of the OPP Emergency Response Team.
A canine track commenced at 2:39 a.m. and a male was arrested inside the compound.
Charged with theft over $5,000 and mischief to property over $5,000 is 32 year-old Randy SHAVER of Loyalist Township.
SHAVER is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Napanee on November 25th.
