CHARGE LAID UNDER STUNT DRIVING LEGISLATION – 158 in a 100

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On November 6, 2014, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Currie Road in Elgin County.

Just after 10:30 a.m., the officer observed an eastbound BMW SUV that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of 158 km/hr.

The 35 year old male driver from Brampton has been charged with racing a motor vehicle as well as failing to surrender an insurance card. The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.
