(IROQUOIS FALLS) An officer with the Iroquois Falls OPP has charged a Timmins driver with a traffic offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act stemming from an event on August 8th on Main Street in Iroquois Falls.
The OPP officer, while patrolling the downtown core of Iroquois Falls, came upon a vehicle being driven by a driver allegedly using his cell phone.
The driver was interviewed at the road side and based on the observations made by the officer, the driver, Roger GELINEAU, 54, of Timmins, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle While Using a Handheld Communications Device contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver.
Those motorists who insist on driving in contravention of the Highway Traffic Act can rightfully expect to face the consequences which include monetary fines and the possible acquisition of demerit points.
