(IROQUOIS FALLS) – The Iroquois Falls OPP has charged a local man with a driving offence stemming from a routine traffic stop on Main Street in Iroquois Falls on
August 8th. The OPP officer had occasion to stop observe that a 2007 Toyota Matrix passenger vehicle was being driven with an expired validation sticker.
Based on the routine investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, it was determined that an Ontario driver’s licence suspension is in effect in the driver’s name and that, allegedly, the vehicle was not currently covered by automobile insurance.
As a result, Alex DAVIDSON, 53, of Iroquois Falls, has been charged with Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Operate Motor Vehicle Without Valid Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The driver was served with summonses requiring him to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on September 12th to answer to the charges laid against him.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver. Those motorists who choose to drive while under suspension can rightfully expect a prompt and strict response from OPP officers who diligently patrol area roadways.
