UPDATE – TRACTOR TRAILER COLLISION ON HIGHWAY

(BRIGHTON, ON) – Northumberland OPP investigated a four vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401west of County Road 30 north of Brighton that occurred on Wednesday August 21, 2013 just after 11:00 am.

Four vehicles were all travelling in the westbound lanes of the 401, three vehicles were in the driving lane and one vehicle was in the passing lane.

The first vehicle, a 2013 silver Honda CRV with an adult male driver, brakes excessively in front of the second vehicle, a 2004 red Honda Civic also with an adult male driver who was related to the driver of the first vehicle, in order to pull over to the north shoulder but did they not initially collide.

These two Honda’s were being followed by a 2004 International tractor trailer with an adult male driver. The third vehicle, a 2007 red Ford Explorer, with an adult female driver was merging from passing lane in behind the Civic at the same time the CRV was braking. The Ford was struck by the tractor trailer from behind causing the Ford to collide into the Civic and the tractor trailer into the ditch.

David S. GUAY, age 62 from Chatham, Ontario has been issued a Provincial Offence Notice for careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Fortunately there were no injuries as a result of this collision and both lanes of Highway 401 westbound were completely open at approximately 12:40 pm today.
