(Lansdowne,ON) On the 5th of September 2013 Ontario Provincial Police in Leeds and 1000 Island Township were patrolling Hwy 401 near the village of Lansdowne. At around 7:45 a.m an officer saw a black KIA travelling at a very high rate of speed in the westbound lanes.
The officer determined that the car was travelling in excess of 150 km/hr. The car was stopped by the officer.
The driver, Alexander Balyabin, 28 yrs of Toronto has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Balyabin’s licence is suspended for 7 days and his vehicle impounded.
