LOCK IT OR LOSE IT – CENTENNIAL AVENUE THEFTS

(Elgin County) After several thefts from unlocked vehicles, sheds and garages in the of Centennial Ave, Talbot Line and Coulter Avenue, Central Elgin have been reported over the last three weeks police are reminding people to lock it or lose it.

The thefts have all occurred overnight in the general area of Centennial Avenue area in Central Elgin. Unlocked vehicles, sheds and garages have been entered and thieves have taken such items as wallets, a Canon cameras, an iPod touch, computer accessories, gift cards, voice recorder, identification and many other small items and change.

Tips for keeping your property safe

Remove all valuables from your vehicle.
Lock your vehicle.
Park in a well-lit area or in your garage.
Mark your property so that it can be returned if police recover it.
Report any suspicious people lurking about. How are they dressed, are they looking in parked cars or going up and down the street. If so don’t hesitate, call police.

Thieves are looking for the quick and easy score. Leaving your vehicle, sheds and garages unlocked with valuables inside makes for an easy target.
