(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is currently investigating a sudden death at a Colonel Talbot Road, Courtland, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Saturday, September 21, 2013 at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Norfolk County OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedics responded to a tobacco farm located on Colonel Talbot Road.
Through investigation it was determined that a 52 year old male was working in a tobacco field and was operating a tobacco harvesting tractor. A member working on the farm noticed that the tractor had stopped in the middle of the field and went to check on the operator.
The operator was located underneath the tractor and had suffered life threatening injuries.
The male was subsequently transported to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the attending physicians.
The name of the deceased is not being released until next of kin is notified.
A post mortem is to be conducted on Sunday, September 22, 2013 in order to determine the cause of death.
The Ministry of Labour has been notified.
The investigation is continuing.
