TWO ARRESTED AFTER PURSUIT

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating an incident involving a number of offences that occurred in numerous locations and resulted in the arrest of two female parties.

On November 16, 2014 the OPP was contacted by a witness who had observed a physical altercation on the side of Highway 7 east of Manilla. The suspect vehicle left the scene but was observed by an OPP officer west of Lindsay. The officer activated the cruisers emergency lights and sirens but the vehicle did not stop and struck the cruiser on Highway 7 near Greenfield Road. The officer was not injured but the suspect vehicle did not stop.

Investigation indicates that the two female suspects eventually hired a taxi that transported them into the Lindsay area. When they neglected to pay the taxi fare officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service attended and both parties were arrested.

Kayla DRUGER, 23 years of age, is charged with numerous Criminal Code related offences including robbery with violence, theft of a motor vehicle and flight while pursued by police officer.

Jennifer YUKE, 40 years of age, is charged with numerous Criminal Code related offences, including robbery with violence, theft of a motor vehicle and transportation fraud.

The accused parties will appear for a bail hearing, in Lindsay, on Thursday November 20, 2014.

The OPP continues to investigate this incident.
