Street Signs Removed Overnight Causes Collision

(Township of Essa, ON)- On the 9th of May 2015 at 8:30 a.m. officers from the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of the 17th Sideroad and 4th Concession of Adjala-Tosorontio Township. There were no injuries, however it was determined the cause of the collision was due to a stop sign missing. Officers investigated further, and discovered that multiple street signs throughout Adjala-Tosorontio Township had been pulled out of the ground by unknown suspects. The roads department attended to the down signs, and ensured they were all erect again.

Further investigation revealed that two youth were observed in the area of Cindy Lane in Ajala-Tosorontio Township on the 9th of May 2015 at approximately 4:00 a.m. removing street signs. This was not reported until the following day with no further description of the youth.

The potential for serious harm or death as a result of street signs being removed is of concern to the Nottawasaga OPP, and the investigation is continuing to locate the persons responsible.
