Blair McGOWAN – Drunk Driving, Drive While Suspended, etc. etc. etc.

(Ottawa, ON) – May 13, 2015, The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Ottawa Detachment responded to an afternoon motor vehicle collision on Highway 417 westbound past the Maitland Avenue overpass.

At approximately 2:37 pm, officers attended the scene of a single motor vehicle collision. As a result of the investigation, the male driver, 49 year old Blair McGOWAN of Ottawa, is charged with:

Driving while Disqualified – court order (5 counts);

Driving While Ability Impaired;

Driving with More than 80 mgs;

Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle;

Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent;

Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor; and

Driving while under suspension.

He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Ottawa on May 27, 2015.

Reminder

Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.

The OPP is asking that if you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired by alcohol or other drugs and intends on driving, strongly discourage them from driving and call 9-1-1 if they insist.
