(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Monday, July 27, 2015 at approximately 7:42 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision between a horse drawn vehicle and a pick-up truck on the East Back Line, east of Road 190, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
A single axle horse drawn vehicle was travelling east bound on the East Back Line when the horse suddenly turned into the path of a west bound 2012 Dodge Ram pick-up truck.
Both occupants of the horse-drawn vehicle were ejected. The 17 year old male driver was air lifted to a London hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. A 25 year old male passenger suffered minor injuries. He was taken to hospital and released. Both reside in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
The 46 year old driver of the pick-up truck and a 15 year old male passenger, from the Municipality of Grey Highlands, had sustained minor injuries. They were examined at the scene by Grey County Emergency Services.
The horse suffered fatal injuries.
There were no charges laid in this incident.
