Harvin BHARWANI – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On August 23, 2015 at approximately 1:23 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Highway 6 near College Avenue in the City of Guelph. Officers investigated the driver of a 2009 Nissan that entered into the checkpoint. While speaking with the driver, police detected the strong odour of alcohol on his breath and a Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

21-year-old Harvin BHARWANI has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Adult Young Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 4, 2015 to answer to his charges.
