(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Ontario Provincial (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 11 in the City of Orillia.
On September 17, 2015 at approximately 4:42 a.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a collision on Highway 11 south bound between Memorial Avenue and Highway 12. When officers arrived on scene they located two vehicles that had been involved in a collision. A passenger vehicle had struck the guard rail and rolled over coming to rest in the passing lane. The passenger vehicle was then struck by a pickup truck.
The male driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Highway 11 south bound will be closed until further notice while the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are at the scene.
