(INGERSOLL, ON.) – On September 17, 2015 at 5:50 p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the report of a robbery at The Independent Grocer located on King Street West in The Town of Ingersoll.
A lone male entered the store shortly before 5:20 p.m. where he proceeded to place several items in his cart. The suspect then left the store without paying for the items. Employees of the store followed the suspect and made contact with him in the parking lot and he was asked to return to the store. The male then produced a knife and threatened the two employees. The suspect then fled to a vehicle. While leaving the area, the suspect vehicle struck a parked car can continue to flee. The suspect and vehicle were last seen on Whiting Street. No injuries occurred in the robbery.
Through police investigation the licence plates on the suspect vehicle were discovered to be stolen from a car park on Plank Line earlier in the day.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect described as follows (photos attached):
Male, white
Mid 20’s
5’10” tall
Slim build
Short brown hair and brown facial hair on chin
Wearing a grey/brown t-shirt with yellow “John Deere” lettering across the front, brown plaid patterned shorts and white running shoes.
Suspect vehicle is described as follows:
Silver / Grey older style family van, possible tinted rear windows.
Stolen Ontario Licence plate #: BRNH 420 may still be affixed.
Possible damage to the passenger side rear wheel well – rear bumper area resulting from the collision.
